Fortune 500 companies and emergency service networks. When
Los Angeles’ suffered the 1994 Northdridge earthquake,
ISA’s systems didn’t flinch.
Here’s
some detail:
ISA rides
on the same dedicated Sonet-ring fiber optic line as the city’s
emergency network. Even if this network suffers a breach,
it’s designed to self heal at the speed of light. Few
companies get to use this network and ISA is one of them.
ISA is directly
connected to Los Angeles’ main
telecommunications hub. There are no routers for calls to slow
down or get lost. ISA’s
data is carried by a closed-end T1 wide area network. This
assures two things: First, that the system is impenetrable
to the unauthorized. And second, because all three ISA facilities
are networked, ISA can handle a huge project at three locations
just as quickly as a smaller one at one facility. ISA’s
power supply is backed up by a 30,000-volt Emerson Continuous
Power System that constantly monitors the power grid. Even
if there’s a slight fluctuation, it can cover it in
a nanosecond. And if there’s a blackout, 30-diesel-sized
batteries kick in to make sure that ISA or your project never
experiences it.
Finally,
because ISA’s data is immediately stored on both hot-swapable
RAID 5 systems and a 30-terabyte (30,000 gigabyte) NAS disc
array, you are assured your data will be safe. But just to
be sure, ISA files are still backed up every night to media
and stored offiste.
